October 2018We are thrilled to recognize 5th grade teacher, Lynn Tharrett as the first recipient of our Jake's Good Things Happen Person of the Month Award.
Lynn is battling cancer for the third time, and yet she always makes time to put her students, and other people, before herself. She truly embodies the "other people matter" mindset. |
November 2018Jake's on the Water is thrilled to announce that Mr. Sean Scordo has been chosen as a "Jake's Good Things" award recipient for November.
According to Ms. Gray, Lawrence Avenue Elementary Principal, "Sean's energy and enthusiasm make our school a place students can't wait to get to each day. He can often be found dancing on the sidewalk as the buses unload in the morning, hosting student council meetings before the day even begins or sometimes you just might find him emceeing our school-wide assemblies. His passion, dedication, energy and enthusiasm help remind us what good things can happen with the right mindset!" Sean, we are so proud to recognize you for the impact you are having on the students at Lawrence Avenue! You are a hero! |
December 2018Our December award winner is the AAK Art Teacher, Miranda Brosell.
Here are a few things people had to say about her... "Miranda is such a creative and kind person. She has helped with countless initiatives from P2 to fundraising to just making our hallways look beautiful and anywhere in between. She does not bat an eye when asked to do something else on top of all that she has to do already. The best part is that she is always doing so with a smile on her face and a calm, cool, collected attitude. I aspire to have the same mindset as her and I truly look up to what an amazing person she is. I'm so glad to work with Miranda and good things should happen to her!" "Miranda goes above and beyond her duties. Her artwork is amazing and she is constantly adding creativity to AAK . Students really enjoyed the mustache activity that was held today. The banners she has created with students for Jonathan and Rachel are amazing. Miranda has a smile on her face , a kind word for everyone and helps AAK continue to be a great place to be." |
January 2019
Sarah Baker personifies many of the P2 character strengths and is a positive role model for students and staff alike. With Sarah, it is easy to see that students come first and she goes above and beyond daily to make AAK a safe and positive environment. Sarah has been trained and volunteers as a Red Cross first responder in crisis situations and recently used her expertise to assist several of our students and their families in the aftermath of a fire. She has also volunteered to help students by being a "reward" for positive behavior, which involves staying after school on her own time. She educates staff in many ways, most recently co-organizing Self-Care workshops after school. Thank-you, Sarah, for all you do to make Potsdam Central School a safe and positive school to work and learn in!" #kindness #connection/purpose |

She is an amazing addition to PCS. #kindness #integrity |
